POLICE are trying to reassure the public in the Riverland after a man was charged over dozens of sexual assaults on children over the past year.
Police spokeswoman Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes said the Riverland man, 50, appeared in the Berri Magistrates Court yesterday charged with 41 sex offences against children.
"The charges include seven counts of having sex with someone under 14 years-of-age and 19 counts of indecent assault," she said.
"The alleged offences were committed over a period of 10 months, between November 2009 and September 2010."
He was remanded in custody and will face court again in January next year.
"Police are confident there is no on-going risk to public safety, investigations are continuing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward by contacting BankSA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
