TWO school boys have been charged over an assault on the state's South Coast, which has left a fellow student in a coma.
On Friday, September 3, the 13-year-old boy suffered head injuries during an assault on the grounds of the high school on Beach Road in Batemans Bay.
The student was flown to Canberra Hospital where he remains in an induced coma with swelling to his brain. He is in a serious but stable condition.
Police from the Far South Coast launched an investigation which involved interviewing a number of witnesses.
Yesterday, they charged two male students, aged 12 and 17, with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm of a school student.
They will face Batemans Bay Children’s Court on Monday 18 October.
