FOUR men looking for a man at Rocklea have instead bashed his housemate with what is believed to be a metal bar. Police said the four went to the house in Darnley Street, Rocklea on Brisbane's southside about 8.45pm yesterday, to speak to a man who was known to them.

He was not home so they turned on his housemate who was repeatedly struck with some metal objects.

The 36-year-old suffered two large gashes to his head, a suspected broken wrist and multiple cuts and bruises to the rest of his body.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

All of those involved are described as Caucasian and aged from 25 to 40-years-old.

Three had slim builds and the fourth man was more solid with short light brown hair.

Police are yet to locate the primary occupant of the house but are keen to speak to him.

Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
