A PREGNANT mother-of-three was bashed in her front yard by an angry parent, a court has heard.

Lisa Shelton was four months pregnant when Leigh Watson Penneyston attacked her outside her Risdon Vale home on November 18.

Penneyston this morning admitted to the attack, but escaped a jail sentence.

The Supreme Court in Hobart heard Ms Shelton's eight-year-old son had swapped his mobile phone for a BMX and other items belonging to Penneyston's 11-year-old son.

Ms Shelton was angry about the swap and went to Penneyston's partner's house to get her son's phone back.

An angry exchange ensued between the two women and Ms Shelton left, slamming the screen door and taking a toy scooter from the front yard as she went.

A couple of days later Penneyston went to Ms Shelton's house with his stepson and three other males.

She tried to run inside but Penneyston and a younger male started punching her repeatedly to the head and body.

Ms Shelton tried to protect herself and told her attackers she was pregnant.

The men said they did not care and would kill her baby.
