**************************
Two men armed with large kitchen knives have robbed a young couple walking home in Curtin. The 29-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were forced on their knees during the terrifying attack.
The pair was walking along Leake Place at about 3.30am yesterday when they were confronted.
A car driving along the street without headlights on passed the couple shortly before two young men approached them armed with large knives.
The attackers threatened the couple and forced them on their knees, with their hands behind their heads.
The armed robbers took the pairs mobile phones and wallets.
They were last seen running to McCormack Street. Police said the car earlier seen driving past the couple was seen a short time later being driven erratically.
The offenders were described as Caucasian, aged in their late teens or early twenties, about 185cm-tall with muscular builds and short hair.
One of them was wearing a grey hooded jumper and the other a dark hooded jumper.
The vehicle is believed to be a small two-door hatchback, possibly grey or beige in colour.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website.
My comment - Here we go. TWO men armed with everyday garden variety kitchen knives commit a crime.
Let's imagine that you are a man. You are walking along the road with a female friend (sister? girlfriend? wife?). Two armed men threaten you and force you and your friend to your knees. What are you thinking? What's your friend thinking?
How can she EVER trust you to protect her in the future because YOU FAILED THIS TIME. What if those thugs bundled her into their car? WTF are you going to do? Call the cops? They'd have a video of her being molested uploaded onto the web before you finished blubbering the description to the Police.
I'm not catastrophising here. This blog is only young and I'm not even trying to collate ALL the victims of crime. Hell, the Police don't even know how many people are assaulted because they only know the number of people whom are assaulted and make a complaint. Try the A&E departments for a better idea but that'd only cover the assaults that require urgent medical aid. And you want to know the worst of it? The worst of it is that we only ever hear the newsworthy crimes. What's newsworthy? Certainly if I got bashed that's important to me. My sister-in-law was raped and that didn't make the local news. Just another dumb bitch in the wrong place.
Go on. Think for a moment what you'd do when confronted with two armed men. You know NOTHING of their intentions. NOTHING. And you want to get on your knees?
