Shot fired during robbery at Old Spot Hotel, Salisbury

A staff member was carrying overnight takings from the Old Spot Hotel on Main North Rd at Salisbury about 11.15am when he was ambushed in the hotel's car park by a man waiting in bushes.

Chief Inspector Kym Zander said it appeared the gunman knew the movements of staff and the long-weekend takings.

"Indicators are there is a knowledge and awareness of the cash being held," he said.

The thief, armed with a handgun, snatched the money from the victim and ran off.
