POLICE are searching for a man who stabbed a female bushwalker in the Blue Mountains yesterday.
The man confronted the 29-year-old woman as she was walking alone on a bush track in the Blue Mountains National Park in Blaxland.
He stabbed her in the neck and the hand.
The woman called the police and walked back to the start of the track, where she was met by family.
She was taken by ambulance to Nepean Hospital where she is in a stable condition.
Police are using helicopters and the Dog Squad to search for the attacker.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 40 years old, 180 centimetres tall with a slim build, short sandy-coloured hair, and tattoos on both arms. He was wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans.
